This weekend I tried a new tobacco, Maple Street, and asked her to sniff me afterwards. "Daddy, you smell horrible! Can you sleep outside tonight?" FYI, down to single digit temps. I asked I could take shower and wash the clothes instead. She accepted that counteroffer.
I guess she does not like smoke.

Aww, you poor man.
Wow Wallbright you have 666 posts as I see them right now, wicked
I haven't dated in a while myself, but all my formers hated the smell of smoke, even said they could taste of it on me. But I'm not quitting for anyone. Learned long ago the only thing as constant as women coming is that they go just as easily, if not more so.
My cigarette, pipes, cigars, hookah and the RARE chew will always be there. Actually I kinda think of chew as my "mistress" She's old, ratty, a bit smelly and spouts some rank fluids -- but every great once and a while you just feel the urge for some strange.
To further the analogy, I suppose cigarettes would be my wife -- always got a minute for her, though we don't seem to stick around very long most of the time, but we make our moments all day long, then occasionally we'll have a chain session at the end of the night.
Pipe tobacco is my daughter, I love her, she's powerful and yet relaxing. . .but so time-consuming I don't get to her as much as I'd like -- and the cigar my father, once in a while it's nice to just sit back with a nice brandy or single-malt whiskey and while away the time with remembrances for a few hours.
Back to you though Winton -- My advice is not to smoke that blend around her again, and all will be well heh heh.

Perhaps you are fortunate that you have daughters who speak to you.....But perhaps it is a mixed blessing..... :puffy:

I always wash my face off a bit, since the lingering smoke odor can bother me a bit sometimes. Splash on a little aftershave and I'm good to go. However, my wife and daughters never complain.

It's funny. My 2 year old son (see the avatar) has a crazy fascination with my pipes, while my wife absolutely hates them. She's friends with some of the wives of my smoking buddies and they gather strength and solidarity in their stories of denying us lovin' on the pipe smoking days.

I walked in the pipe/cigar shop long enough to buy a tin of Penzance and then went home to have my wife make a comment about the odor of smoke.

I guess I am lucky, my wife absolutely loves the smell of (most) pipe smoke, in fact, that helped me make the decision to trade in cigarettes for briar (or rather, cob in my case).

My wife encourage me to start - says she "loves the smell" of pipe tobacco - "You can smoke inside, honey!" Well - that ended after I tried some good Virginia tobacco last night and not the sweet, rummy stuff!!

The situation in reverse for me. I wish to bring my dad back from his retirement from pipe smoking, so that we daughter and father could have yet another thing to exchange and chat about.

My wife and two daughters were at the mall today (school is out for snow). They were sharing a pretzel. They know that I love pretzels. Thinking of me my 10 year old says to her mother, "I love him, but life must go on."

Since we are in a heat wave, I thought this thread would be fun to come back to.

My wife has never complained about my pipe in 40 years, and I smoke all day everyday, inside and out.

But.... she has never complimented me about it either..... :)

My wife says I can smoke in the house, I have a small room with all my pipes, I try not to smoke too much in the house , but with the heat my old wraparound porch on my 100 yr old house is unbearable, my grandaughter and grandson are with us for the summer, brought the grandaughter to a small stable by my farm for rideing lessons, my grandson wouldn't"t sit by me because I was smokeing my little scoot I watched him with his game boy, terrified of spiders, brushing the few flies away that are ever present in a horse arena and told my wife what have we some too. SAD the old cajun

I'm fortunate to have a wife that pretty much allows me to do most anything, within limits of course.
As others have said too, I only smoke in my den and that is where I keep my stash as well. That pretty much keeps the smell to that end of the house.
My 12 year old grandson was over for the 4th and said, "I can't wait until I'm old enough to smoke a pipe like grandpa". His mother frowned a bit but we all know how that is..............

My live in sister-in-law insists that my tobacco stinks. Since the tobacco actually has a wonderful aroma, I have concluded that there is something terribly wrong with her sense of smell.
