I am very proud to announce that my daughter got engaged last night to a wonderful young man whom we have grown to love and welcome into our family.

We are also very lucky that he has wonderful parents and extended family and we all get along very well
The engagement event was a complete surprise for my daughter, although she knew it was coming.
The ring was the biggest holdup. Picking the stone and the exact design of the ring and the extreme detail in construction was challenging for me, to say the least
I've made plenty of rings before, but for ones own daughter-well, we all wanted it to be 'perfect'.
She was fooled into thinking they were going to meet others or dinner, and during the late afternoon he proposed.
Both sets of parents were going to be at a restaurant waiting for them to show up unbeknownst to m daughter
It was such a happy night
Allan

Wow, great story, and fantastic that you made the ring. The only ring I could make is one in our bathtub.

Fantastic & congratulations. Now I do have ask the giant unanswered question. Will you be able to share a pipe with your future son-in-law?

Congratulations! You know, of course, you are now a broke man. (Somebody had to say it!) :nana:

Congratulations to all, may they have a wonderful life!
When it gets closer to the wedding, things will get weird. My daughter turned into someone I didn't recognize and my wife had a glaze in her eyes and walked around the house muttering, "it's almost over . . . " It was God's way of making the break easier for everyone.
