One issue I have cleaning my cobs is I can never get a pipe cleaner through the lip. Now, I'm a clincher, so this may be why, but even a slim churchwarden cleaner won't fit through the lip.

I also have a few that have been "clenched" too much and a cleaner will not pass through. Stems are cheap through MM, I think about $.50 a piece.

Yeah, I think I have to look at some of those stems. I assume they would work with every MM cob - ie one size fits all?

Hummm... what is the shelf life of a cob? Not having purchased one before, I think I thought they were only good for about 10 - 15 smokes. No?

i have a cob that has had over 5 lb of tobacco put through it.
a MM cob will last a long damn time with minimal care.
oh, that cob is still going strong....

Been smoking the same 3 cobs for 2 years. Still going strong!
@Zonomo

I thought the cobs would burn out eventually with me being a newer pipe smoker. They've been put through the ringer for sure. Smoked em hot, left them outside for too long. I think as long as you don't submerge it in water for a few hours they might outlast you.
Not the stems though... those things will make you feel like a german shepherd. Chewing through them things like bacon strips.
Everyone should read the Corcob Primer. It's packed with info. Bookmark it, print it out, frame it. Just read it.
