Man, I want a Harley, but the Mrs is suggesting something cheaper to start out with. I've never ridden, but always wanted to. So, I'm looking at Honda 1300-1800 as an alternative.
I know the feeling of that loss and anxiety of getting your ride back, though. I had an 82 Impala that was the first car I bought and paid for myself. I kept her till the engine just about fell out and she was still going. Wonderful car! Want to get another one, lol.

It has been a dreadful Spring...

Back in early February I rolled her out to run some fresh gas through the engine and the next thing I knew....

No movement in the throttle cable... So, back into her barn... had to save up some pennies and then off to H.D.

The only reason I didn't repair her myself.... I'm marginally mechanically declined. I thought about doing the repairs myself, but that would have involved removing the tank and a couple of other things... and that put the repairs just a bit above my pay grade where mechanical repairs are concerned.

I'd love another Harley. Built a very nice Shovelhead and then sold it to pay some bills. Currently riding a Suzuki 1200 Bandit and sometimes the wondeful Suzuki SV650.

Lawrence: If you are close to Maryland, bring it here next time. I do all my bike/car mechanical work. I'm putting a new windshield on a friends bike this morning, the dealer mucked it up (aftermarket shield).
I have two Triumphs and look forward to traveling with my pipe gear and enjoying a smoke at events, etc. I've always traveled with cigars, but many times a ride stop doesn't allow for a 1 hour smoke.
I have two Triumphs, Beauty & The Beast. 02 America and a 66 Bonneville chopper that I built with some help.

Gorgeous Martin.
Tell me something, please...

What is the attraction of "Ape Hangers"?

They look cool, but....

I guess I just don't get it.

And they are great if you suffer from excess underarm perspiration!
Seriously though, they are really comfy on a long ride if you have a comfy seat that lets you assume

that position. Feet fully forward of course. They look weird but work well.

The bars are rubber mounted but the engine is rigidly bolted to the frame. Makes for a nice combination of just enough vibration.

I'm getting all nostalgic just thinking about it. She was a sweety too, 1970 FLH with matching numbers.

It seems counter intuitive, but you find the sweet spot with them in terms of height and tilt, and they are heaven.

I have seen some police bikes with a type of Ape Hangers but nothing that high and they were very comfy.

I may consider them if I ever buy another bike. But, mine probably still has another 40 years in it.

Since everyone is posting their bikes, I figured I would post my most recent one. Unfortunately, I had to sell it recently. I'll have another one before too long I hope. Maybe a cool Bonnie like ssjones.
