Are you planning to do consignment work? I love the last (from the first post) 1/4 bent Dublin just as it is!
Hello Spencer, I am sorry, I am not sure to understand, what do you mean by 'consignment work'? Is that accepting specific order?

Restoring and finishing pipes is a complementary activity to my fulltime job, it was at first just a way to change my mind but, bit by bit, with passion, it has taken place in my life, and I am now in a partial professional status (I prefer to stay secure and keep my job so far).

So I am already selling pipes on ebay, if that replies to your question. The next step is of course a website, but I need more time.
Regarding the pipe that caught your eye, it is no more available, I had sanded a similar stummel (see picture below) that I fitted with a hornlike extension but this is the one I smoke myself for my english blends, and unfortunately, I have no more of these shapes.

Fantastic, Lightmyfire. Gorgeous pipes. Purchased a pipe from a countryman of yours 2 months ago. Really nice guy. Hope to do more business with him. He shared a couple of bowls from his cellar with me. WOW! Great stuff from 1981.

Looks to me like your fit is right on the money! :worship:

This countryman you talk about must be me I guess, didn't I sold you a Mastro de Paja Egg shape ?
I am glad the sample pleased you. How does the pipe smoke?

Lightmyfire, it is freaking fantastic! I love the Mastro De Pajas.
I purchased one from Iwan Ries & Co 3 years ago and loved it so much I purchased a twin to it off of ST.James Island Piper. He is a great guy also. I have picked up a number of pipes from him.
Anyway, I am buying only the Mastro De Pajas pipes these days. I know there are more expensive ones, I have a couple, but they do not smoke any better to me.
You should sell your blend of tobacco, my friend! It is really really good. It was the first thing I smoked in the pipe you sold me.

I picked a nice afternoon and set down and smoked it. The pipe smoked like an old hand. You would have thought it was well broken in. I am glad to have established a relationship and look forward to future communications.

Stay well, I watch for your listings on E-bay.

I just purchased t my recent Sina Rhodesian from Francois thru eBay and it is enroute to me from Belgium. His communication so far has been excellent (posted the shipping info immediately and pictures of the box/shipping info). His pipe work above speaks for itself, so I'm excited to receive the pipe.

lightmyfire, your finishes are very well done, and the stems pair nicely with the stummels.
Are these still pre-made stummels that you are finishing? Are you hand-cutting some stems from rod?

Thanks for your comments, sirs.

Walt Cannoy > Are these still pre-made stummels that you are finishing? Are you hand-cutting some stems from rod?

So far, I am still working with pre-made and raw stummels, yes because I try to improve step by step and it is impossible for me so far to earn my life with pipemaking in Belgium, so I have a pro status but it is still secondary. Shaping is a much longer process of course, but it is in my objectives.
Regarding the rods, yes I cut them from rods when I have got the time for it.

For example, I am active with brunon (a friend of mine which is pipes-estate on ebay, in fact, we launched together at the same time and are sharing all our improvements) on a french forum and we made about 50 pipes for the Pipe of 2015 of this forum, and many of the pipes ordered were with cumberland stems :

You can see below a stem before and after :

and here the pipe mounted before and after a light sandblast :

Of course, there is still a lot to do and to improve before considering I am a pipe maker, so far, I guess it is still a joke for american carvers.

Thanks for the kind words and also for the advices on Bruno's thread. It's really helpful to get external and objective opinion.

Hi,

it's been a while since I presented my last pipe's finishes.

Here's a Canadian Shaped stummel that offered wide enough wood to improve my rustication process that I call 'Lunar' :
The raw stummel :

After a quick sanding :

And this is the final 'Lunar' result :

I mounted the stummel with a cumberland stem, a bit longer than the usual canadian shape (to my opinion, it shows a nicer design), I drilled the shank at 4 millimeters and opened the button for good & easy draw, I hope that you like it. :)
