OCMS: traditional, sometimes frantic, each player showcasing exactly what they are there for, almost like a (cliche alert) well oiled machine.
Nickel Creek: expanding, innovating, unorthodox, and of course, talented as all hell.

Well, I'm a bit partial to the old time style of old crow, but as a banjo player in a bluegrass brand, I lean to more traditional styles. That said, have to agree with vodomagoo, Avet brothers are my current favorite brand in the universe.

For those who don't know, the Nickel Creek mandolin player is well known pipe maker and Pipedia founder Scott Thile's son. He got a boatload of great press last fall regarding his collaboration with Yo-Yo Ma. 8O

Wow, lots of votes for Old Crow. And I thought I was the only one ever heard of them :D

I dig OCMS because I listen to the real old stuff. A whole lot of their songs are covers or rewrites of old old songs nobody listens to. Its nice to see them breathe some life into that stuff.

My votes for OCMS. Tear it down and raise a ruckus !
