Love Motorhead, they never sold out nor changed their sound, Lemmy rules.
I was a big Priest fan back in the day and still love the classics. Saw them a few times in the 70's - 80's, once Iron Maiden opened for them at the Baltimore Civic Center. Speaking of Maiden...an old favorote as well. A bit sad to hear a Priest song used to sell Honda minivans, oh the shame... (Ted Nugent song also used for a recent commercial, I forget which one)

Maiden was probably my all-time favorite band in the 80s.
+1
"You'll take my life but I'll take yours too. You'll fire your musket but I'll run you through. So when you're waiting for the next attack. You'd better staaaaand there's no turning baaaaack"
Not only did Iron Maiden rock, they taught you history at the same time! :D
Edit: It didn't hurt that they had some of the coolest album covers of all time either!

Just think of how huge and well-known they were back then and they got virtually no airplay in the States and maybe a blurb once in awhile on MTV. They also wrote some of the best remembered metal songs of all time.

All good bands Man do I like them all that have been posted.

The Nuge Maden Priest seem them all.

To quote bentmike, out of control train ride. Dont that sum up the 80/90 hardrock metal scene.

I will say this I dont care much for the new stuff or the bands maybe 3 or 4 I halfway like.

These guys here, Incantation, was what I was listening to in high school. They belong to that genre of music you either really hate or really like.

Cajunguy Ive seen this before and I was like wtf you have to be kidding me. And your right ive got to meet dimebag a few times he was a wonderful person with a killer sence of humor always joking around living life to the fullest. He will always be missed but never fotgotten.
Indeed. I knew Phil Anselmo's sister, as she was good friends with my high school girlfriend. Later on, I was in a band with his cousin. That's how I met Dime. I had the privilege of jamming with Darrell several times (my abilities were nothing compared to his). Moreso, I had the honor of learning from him in the process. He was close to breaking out of his niche and moving onto bigger things, crossing and blurring the lines between musical boundaries... a John McGlaughlin of my generation. He is missed.
Here is a song that features my favorite riffs/solos of his, a small taste of what he was moving towards. R.I.P. Darrell.

My all time favorite rock is the one that killed hair bands, grunge. Nirvana, STP, Pearl Jam, and Alice N Chains kicked some major ass.
Today it's hard to find good hard rockers. The most mainstream hard/metal rockers are probably Seether, Three Days Grace, or Disturbed. For good hard rock these days you pretty much have to go underground.
Having grown up during the height of the Alternative scene when bands like Smashing Pumpkins, Green Day, Bush, Oasis, Wallflowers, Foo Fighters, and so on were getting huge I'm greatly disappointed with the music scene these days. Emo is the closest thing to rock in mainstream music. Other than those whiny suicidal bitchy frat boys all there is in the music world is hot chicks who can't sing but look good in a thong or some dime a dozen one hit wonder rappers. Well, they say everything makes a comeback every 20 years or so and 1992 was 20 years ago. Maybe we're due for an influx of angst ridden pissed off 20 somethings who just wanna wear ripped jeans, spaghettio's tshirts and long sleeve flannel shirts, jumping into mosh pits and trashing their amps and guitars to end the gig. One can only hope.
