I'm starting to suspect that some members here, take their photos from a deliberate angle to make their pipes seem bigger than they actually are.

Eh, natural and unavoidable lens distortion if the camera is too close to the face. Since most phone cams have wideish angle lenses, this is even more accentuated when taking selfies.
