So today I had the bittersweet pleasure of meeting Marty Pulver on the phone. Bitter because both of the pipes I wanted were sold (Very very bitter. lol) but sweet because, OMG: Marty is like the coolest guy ever. We chatted for over 10 minutes and the man is a minor diety of pipe knowledge.
I am completely sold on him as a shop, even though I missed out on a killer deal.
There will be others. I see them on his site, I just have had bad timing...

Yes, all of the his pipes I can want & afford are almost always sold before I pounce on them. He has a way with words when it comes to describing pipes that I appreciate more than the other estate sellers.

Indeed. I always like dealing with Marty. Even over email I always feel like I walked into his store, chatted a bit about nothing, and left with a pipe in hand.
He always kinda brightens my day a bit.

I've purchased a few pipes from him. I'd heard he was a straight shooter, confirmed when he tried to talk me out of buying one his pipes because, as he warned me, it was gigantic. It was just what I was looking for!
