My 8 yr. old granddaughter took her "chore money" bought grandpa this Mr. Brog because it looked Christmasy. I have heard of Mr. Brog and seen a couple of them but never thought about getting one, and I'll have to say I'm kind of impressed with it. Not sure if its the pipe it's self or the giver , but I like it.

Mr. Brog makes both briar and pear root pipes. The pear ones will obviously get hotter than the briar but the ones I've had all smoked good.

It's a good Christmas gift to get from a grand daughter.
She was so proud of herself and as cute as could be telling me she liked it because it was Christmasy.
It is Pearwood and the only thing I've found to get hot so far is that wind cap. I guess that will take some getting used to. I've never had one on a pipe before.
CS Cowboy Coffee is great in it.

One day i'd love to have different pipes made of different woods. Pear, cherry, lemon, strawberry etc.

The value of this pipe is that is a thoughtful gift, enoy it in good health!

As for Mr Brog in general: they're low cost, entry level pipes (I have 3) and yes, they smoke well but: they are very heavily painted and their tenon is a weakpoint...

I like the look of the Lemon wood; Now I have a new search to start.
Does look nice, doesn't it? I looked at one a few years ago but I saw the writing on the wall and decided to invest most of my spare cash into tobacco instead. I don't regret my decision but I do wish I had a few more pipes like that Spanu.

Definately a wise decision. When I first started I knew to stick with some cheapo briars and spend the rest of my pipe money on tobacco, I started well after the end of McClelland so I had a pretty good idea how fragile the tobacco side is. Plus even if a pipe maker shuts their doors tons of their pipes will still be available

I agree with you 100%. I can always get some more pipes when my cellar is finished. I keep thinking it is and I'll just top it up occasionally but then I hear a blend is being discontinued. It happened last year. I really like Gawith Reunion Series Bourbon Flake and I was under tbe impression it was a permanent addition to the Gawith portfolio. Then I noticed that only one store had it in stock. I asked the lady from Gawith that posts on the forum and she said it was discontinued. I immediately bought 250g for the cellar. I would've bought more but tobacco is about £23 or $28 dollars for 50g. Still, I did manage to get some.

Same thing happened with STG taking over Sutliff and stopping most of the blends. They'd recently launched some krumble kakes in the UK (about 18 months ago) that I liked the look of and would try in the future. When I heard the news about the shutdown I immediately bought some.
