As a teen the soundtrack to Repo Man was always great.

Before that, the movie Six Pack was a gem (film and soundtrack)

I also loved the soundtrack to Last of the Mohicans

Anecdote 1: I was 6 when Star Wars came out. I owned several Disney movie LPs that were abridged stories/songs. So when I saw Star Wars 2 LP in a store at age 8, I thought it would have dialog. I was so disappointed. Lol

Anecdote 2: when I was maybe 4, my dad drove me into North Portland somewhere to a record store. He worked rotating shift work and it is my earliest memory of a father son trip. We didn't get a sound track, per se. We did get a masterpiece though:

Once in a while I see a movie that I really like the soundtrack to and end up buying it. Doesn't happen a lot, but I have some that go back quite a while ago. I came across this soundtrack to Baz Luhrmann's 1996 movie Romeo and Juliet. It was so weird and the music was equally weird in its variety. The movie was interesting for me as it used Shakespeare's play word for word as it was written but put in a modern day fantasy situation, with an eye for detail. (Browning handgun stamped, Sword-9mm) Wildly creative filming and great performances by the actors. Staring a young Leo DiCaprio and Claire Danes along with John Leguizamo and Paul Sorvino and many others. Perhaps not everyone's cup of tea, but I liked it and it introduced me to some music I was not familiar with including my favorite song from the movie, #1 Crush by Garbage. Other interesting music from some more familiar bands like The Cardigans, Butthole Surfers and Radiohead. The movie I found unforgettable as well as the soundtrack. I'm glad I put it on to play as it brought back some fun memories from the 1990's.
The video below is sort of like a trailer for the film.

So do any of you have a favorite movie soundtrack or song you like?

This movie is really good, I don't see how the music affects it, guess I was in that generation but a really good movie and loved the music

I just found out my stepdaughter and her husband have never seen Oliver Stone's "Natural Born Killers", so we're going to watch it tomorrow night. I have the soundtrack because I thought the movie was a hoot. What a trip, but the music was part of the wackiness of the film. A wide spectrum of music, everything from Duane Eddy, Patsy Cline and Bob Dylan to Nine Inch Nails, Leonard Cohen and Patty Smith. There's something to enjoy or offend for everyone!

Soundtracks and original scores both can be great. Some of the greatest original scores:
The Godfather (perfect from the first trumpet note)
Lawrence of Arabia
Gone with the Wind
Braveheart
Titanic
Remains of the Day
Shawshank ( both a score and a bit of a soundtrack)
Dances With Wolves
Schindler's List (The theme from Schindler's List is truiy magnificent)

As for pure soundtracks: American Graffiti, Big Chill and Goodfellas
