Fishtail is my favorite. I own one P-lip Peterson on a 999 Rhodesian, and I enjoy it as a change of pace. It's a little too much button otherwise. I have an Old Dominion cob (now part of MM cobs) with a reed stem that I enjoy on that very light weight pipe as a salute to history, the perfect re-enactor's pipe. Dental I don't know about.

I like fishtails the best myself, and there seems to be a sweet spot regarding thickness and width. Some bulldog pipes have a relatively pronounced angle from matching the stummel down to the button that can feel unstable and slippery to clench. Also, if the stem is too wide, it doesn't feel comfortable to me.
