Mouth Feel

Mouth feel is now the reason I smoke a pipe. I start to get that tingly itch signifying that I need a pipe. Same feeling with chew or dip.

With cigarettes id get a feeling in my lungs, almost like I couldn't breathe until I had one. Pipes it's the mouth feel.

Fellow sufferer here taste and smell is down 80% and has been for getting on 18 months it's really starting to effect every aspect of my sanity but I'm trying to stay positive. I have found smoking straight Va or straight Burley has helped I cant handle Latakia or too complex of any kind of blend as they taste really funky actually awful. For some reason other Orientals work if they are just straight or an Oriental blend.

As far as mouthfeel I just discovered HU Soraya and it is thick and chunky and because of the heavy Oriental and Burley it really hits home and is the most satisfying thing I have smoked since coved robbed me of my most loved pastime.

I wish you luck on a speedy recovery and finding something satisfying in the interim.

That’s what I’m talking about and thank you for the well wishes. Yes, we have to find other ways of enjoying our past time (and food/drink) other than taste, for now. Eventually, when our taste does come back, we’ll have added dimensions to pipe smoking to look forward to.

Although mouth feel does not play a big role in my experience, typically, there was one blend that really stood out to me in this regard: Boswell's No Bite Delight. I remember smoking that blend and thinking "wow! This is creamy"

I feel the same way about SG Commonwealth that was the first time I personally experienced "creamy" though I had heard it mentioned so often in reviews.
