Back in the days of yore, I used to smoke GL Pease Raven's Wing before bed. It relaxed me like no other tobacco I had ever smoked. Raven's Wing, of course, hasn't been made for a long time. But I am thinking of finding another super-relaxing weed to smoke as the last pipe of the day. Any contenders? What is your vote for most relaxing tobacco ever? (I am sure some of you may mention Nightcap, but I have to say the amount of nicotine in that blend defeats me. Raven's Wing was perfect in the regard--perfectly relaxing and never any nicotine overload.)
Thanks,

Ashton's Artisan's Blend is a quite full flavored and in my experience very creamy mixture that contains both Syrian latakia and a bit of perique, yet is not too overwhelming in the nicotine department.

Samuel Gawith's Commonwealth mixture is also a full mixture (50% latakia, 50% virginia) that you might want to try (provided you haven't done so already).

Can't comment on other GL Pease products, since these are generally not available in Europe and therefore my experience in that department begins and ends with one bowl of Union Square, which despite being a nice herbal (as in black tea) virginia flake is probably not what you're looking for.
(I hope this qualifies as a helpful first post on this wonderful forum, although dangerously TAD and PAD inducing forum.)

This idea may not appeal, but I mix Five Brothers (high nic) with a pleasant aro. I can control how much nic I get and the straight burley doesn't negatively impact the flavor. My ratio is usually 2/3 aro with 1/3 Five Bros.

I find Dunhill's Royal Yacht very relaxing. A straight virginia blend with a little something added for sweetness. However, not at all what I would call an aromatic. Fairly strong in the nic department, but not overwhelming. For me the nicotine provides for the relaxation. By the way, welcome aboard malkav.

I would recommend deep Latakia blends like Nightcap, but minus the nicotine, such as Star of the East, Odessa, Engine 99, Westminster or Pirate Kake. These are all low nic, highly flavorful and complex blends.
By the way, welcome to the forums malkav!

Welcome aboard!

For me I really enjoy Frog Morton on the Town as my top relaxing smoke. But really, smoking a pipe in general to me is for my relaxation time.

If I really want to relax I dip into anything aged. It really forces me to savor and appreciate the tobacco, and I normally end up pairing it with nightcap appropriate for the tobacco. I have a 10 year old tin of McClelland Oriental Mixture No. 1 that I'm slowly savoring right now. The VA shines, the orientals provide some background, and the condimental amount of latakia provides the perfect complexity to keep it lively. It also leaves caramelized sugar roomnote that I find exceptionally pleasing. I'm really going to miss this tin when its gone.

You might try G.L. Pease Odyssey or McClelland British Woods. These two never fail to add an extra measure of relaxation to my final pipe of the day.
