I saw this in Paris, huge. When Picaso painted this in occupied Paris, a Nazi general pulled Picasso out and asked him why he would make such a horrible thing, Picasso replied, "I didn't make this, you did."

Richard Dadd's The Fairy Feller's Master-Stroke always gave me the creeps when I was young. It took him nine years to paint...but then he was in Broadmoor Lunatic Asylum so I suppose time he had aplenty ::

Hieronymus Bosch had some pretty unsettling, crack-pipe fever dreamy stuff going on.

I agree, being eaten by a demon bird is horrific enough, but having birds taking flight from one's ass at the same time is equally disturbing.

Picasso's Guernica, the one posted by Cosmic, may be the most horrified painting, and thereby, for some, the most horrifying. It is one of the most complex and therefore provocative pieces of art I know of. Since it is far from representational or realistic, it involves a lot of response from the viewer to make sense of it, I think.
Ref. brad's Navy poster, when the first Gulf War started, and then later the second, the people called into service got older and older, and I got really worried. I'd been through one disputed war and wasn't eager. I kept having dreams about being recalled. Once a swabby, always a swabby.

You're right, his paintings aren't creepy. The man himself creeps me out. I guess the same could be said for a lot of painters though, so it's kind of a moot point. My bad.
