The picture I posted of this pipe was taken at our club meeting last night. The maker, Jason Zeiner, explained his approach to me and I thought I'd share it. He was concerned that the capacity of the bowl was not what he wanted so after drilling the initial hole he went back in with a smaller bit and drilled on about a 30° angle toward the back of the bowl to allow for more tobacco in the chamber. Please excuse my poor photography skills. I hope you can see what he did because it's a pretty creative solution to what he perceived as an issue.

All I know is that this pipe smokes great and I can't recommend him highly enough.

I think this is a fantastic shape. Im enamoured by the idea of a shape named/based off one of my favorite instruments to play. Not to mention this particular pipe is a beauty!

What a great looking pipe. I don't think I've seen a Morta pipe that hasn't been a blasted finish.

The Eskimo shape is one that I really like and will eventually have in my collection some day. :puffy:

Interesting idea on the drill, creates a sort of horn shape inside. How does the tamping work? Are you able to tamp well? I like the smooth, I made one smooth and it is so shiny. Enjoy.

shaintiques, you are correct about a horn shape inside the bowl. Thanks for the apt description. Tamping is not an issue. I can smoke a bowl down to ash with no problem. Jason Zeiner is a maker to watch because of his innovative approach to design and function. This is my third pipe from him and not my last by a long shot.
