Agree, @ okie.
As to smoking in the a.m., I seldom miss my breakfast time bowl, a cappuccino, and a stroll. Also, stated in other ways, YMMV; different strokes, different folks; chac'un à son goût, etc.
I only smoke one bowl a day, so not having to worry about how it will affect the next bowl I just smoke whatever it is I feel like in the moment, although there does some to be general trends, if its a sit down smoke it will be something with latakia, if its a pottering/working/walking smoke it will be mostly virginia, and possibly aromatic if in public.

I know the methodology of having the heavier smokes in the evening seems sound, but I'm curious about the nicotine hit?
I was never a cigarette smoker, so maybe I'm just not used to it. I also don't smoke every day. So maybe it's exposure, but I can't smoke anything with a solid nic-hit at night or I won't sleep. I can drink a pot of coffee, but one bowl of anything with Lat in it after dinner and I won't sleep. I save that stuff for kick-off time on Sunday afternoons.
Agree with most of the consensus here, find what works for you and try to avoid the "snobs" who tell you what you "should" do about everything. A little advice is good, but too much can ruin all the fun of experimenting.
Nicotine as delivered by the pipe is opposite of that delivered by cigarettes. It is very relaxing, instead of a stimulant. Since I have been smoking strong blends before bed, I have stopped taking any sleeping pills. I used to have chronic insomnia, but not since I found pipes.
Cosmic, different strokes for different folks I guess. I never had insomnia until I started smoking a pipe on Google Hangouts at 9 pm. If I do that I have to have a super-light aromatic or something. Otherwise I'm up all night.
hak', like the idea of pipe smoke as an aphrodisiac, but be careful smoking in bed. Even the young and passionate do eventually occasionally doze off, and you don't want to do that with a lit pipe.
