I didn't realize that a large insurance loss automagically triggered a background check of one's finances.
OK, call me naive.
The insurance company is still reviewing my finances. When they decide that I didn't try to benefit from the loss they will continue the investigation. They haven't notified John Deere yet, but they did contact Drost Equipment to inform him he'd be named in a suit.
Everything is on hold until all the parties finish their seperate investigations and don't need to collect any more evidence.
Harvest-wise, we finished chopping about 60 acres. The new/old replacement chopper is killing us with repairs. The chopper operates by passing the corn fodder through a rotating drum and a series of knives turning at over 2000 rpms.. The chopped material passes through a 2 inch screen and then is blown into a wagon pulled behind the chopper. In front of the drum is the head, which operates by cutting off the corn plant about six inches above the ground and passing the stalks into the feeder rolls and then into the knives. What grips the stalks are hard rubber padded gathering chains.
This brief outline of how a forage chopper works will let you understand what happens when the gathering chain breaks and tries to pass through the machine. It has happened twice so far, this week.
