It's primarily for a coloring experiment. I've had it for neatly 2 months now and it's only been smoked 35 times. At the height of my pipe smoking it would've hit 30 around day six.
It looks like you're getting a very even distribution of color. Is it possible for you to disclose your method or would you prefer to wait for further results?

I'll wait and see what it looks like at 100 smokes but it involves a cork and a piece of tape.

I've had gators at the front door, and sand hill cranes at my window. I've had what amounted to a pet anole on the 'sunporch'. I know all my neighbor's dogs by name. I've seen a flock of Canadian geese for the last month, in addition to all sorts of birds. A flock of wood storks is a regular visitor. Blue Herons, Great Herons, Little Blue Herons, American Kestrels, about 5 kinds of hawks and that many varieties of woodpeckers. And, of course, feral cats, owls, armadillo, opossum, coyote, and racoon.
A developer just built about 40 new homes in my neighborhood, and removed about 100 acres of pine and oak woods. (in about a yr and a half). At least my view is more pastoral.
Oh, the thing I was meaning to say was that I saw a new kind of bird to me the other day. It was a duck with 2 chicks and she was headed straight to feral cat land. I tried to shoo her back toward the water, but, mother ducks are weird. She turned out to be a black bellied whistling duck! I didn't keep tabs or survival.
The other side of my area is the beginnings of the National Forest in Ocala.

So I'm sort of cheating a bit here but I'm staying within the theme of the thread. It was evening and I found it when I opened my garage and went for an evening pipe. Definitely no coffee for me in the evening, but I had another interesting companion. Later another night, an opossum wandered in the yard, climbed one of my apple trees, wandered up very close to me and washed the apple from his face in a water bowl by the garage, then went on his way, digging in my yard for other treats.

I gave him a gentle puff and encouraged him on his travels.
