Irish, we're all gunning for you buddy! As wiser folk than I have said, let them poke, prod and do their thing; fix you up right. I know it can be frustrating, but frustrated is a whole hell of a lot better than the other option.
Have you tried nasal snuff? I've found it helps my mood immeasurably when I'm stuck in the hospital - if you would like I'll drop a tin in the mail.

@bentmike after the 24 hour fog of anistesia I've got nothing but time. Couple of hours of pt a day then mostly lying around watching whatever marathon is on tv!
