Old School s New School: Carter Hall vs Angler's Dream.
This is a tough one for me because I'm an old school kind of guy. But.......
Carter Hall has certainly stood the test of time.  Although, like other old school OTCs (Prince Albert, SWR, etc), we must acknowledge changes in recipe and chemical content from what our fathers and grandfathers smoked. My take is that CH is the best of the OTCs. But I can't get over the chemical/preservative/humectant tones in the background. I smoke the occasional CH. Will I buy more? Probably, because it's everywhere, and my best bet in a pinch. Certainly not an unpleasing smoke.
Angler's Dream, however, delivers the full experience - IMO.  Relatively unadulterated burleys with a tin note that's not 'chemically', and that added hint of cinnamon in the background. Takes a match with ease, burns well, sweet and smooth, and no humectant aftertaste. No bite. IMO, a great alternative to 'drug store blends' and an excellent all-day tobacco. I think Russ accomplished what he set out to achieve here wonderfully.
What say you oh forum brain trust --- CH or AD the win?

I tried Anglers Dream Quite a bit ago. I got the sample from Russ, back when it was still in development. I didn't like it at all, so I gave it away. As for Carter Hall, I haven't tried it, and don't plan to. I don't care for Burley forward blends. Burley is fine in a blend as a component, but I don't care for it as the main flavor.

I do hit the Carter Hall with my uncle, but agree on it not being the best aftertaste. Before-dinner smoke, not after. And I haven't had the Angler's since the beta testing either; I'll have to revisit. Recusing myself for this round, unfortunately.

Well, this one seems to have fallen a bit flat. I will strive to do better in my match-ups ;)
So far the score is 1-1 with two recusal/ absaintations
BTW pm me if there's a tobacco you want to see put through the paces!

I'll have to go with Anglers Dream. The cinnamon notes work surprisingly well. I agree with your assessment Sothron. For burley lovers, it's a winner!
