Frog Morton on the Bayou vs Seattle Pipe Club Plum Pudding.
Two English+ blends. Very similar in some regards. Both with Perique. One (SPCPP) with Cavendish. One a ribbon, the other a crumble cake.
Wow, again two highly regarded blends. And this one is sure to bring out the Froggie partisans. I'm a lover of FMOTB myself. But in this contest, I have to throw in for SPCPP. A unique and delicious blend, I don't know if it's the cumblecake presentation, the Cavendish, or the secret "something extra", but I love this stuff.
"I don't always smoke English. But when I do, I smoke Seattle Pipe Club Plum Pudding".
What say you, oh PipesMagazine brain trust?

Really love Plum Pudding but the Frog has a little bit of an edge. I'll call it Froggy wins on points with no clear victor.

Frog with a KO in the first :30. While usually reserved in my dislike for blends, Plum Pudding is one which inexplicably elicited extreme, visceral biochemical rejection from every cell in my body. Even the invading germ cells and other detritus. FMOTB is conversely a delightfully palatable blend for me, one I've returned to almost compulsively, since my first sampling. I even ordered the whole Frog family on IPSD to lay down some comparative notes, as my own way of celebrating.

Sorry, Seattle.

Got 'em both, like 'em both. SPC Plum Pudding wins just because it is more complex. I've had some pretty zen smokes with it and realize I'm trying to get smoke from a completely smoked bowl, its 45 minutes later and I don't know where the time went. FMOTB is an excellent smoke but its no SPCPP.

I gotta go with plum pudding. It is such an enjoyable complex smoke. I can't even make out all the flavors but I likey more than froggy. Now if the matchup was froggy cellar.....

For me, no contest: Plum Pudding. Just not that wild about FMOTB. Now if the fight were about PP vs FMOTT, then I'd be hard pressed to pick a favorite. Yeah, I know that PP & FMOTT are not in the same category, but I just really like them both...

Haven't tried either but I am from Seattle area so I have to root for the home team. I guess my vote may not count

I have not tried that particular Frog, but I can't see it beating PP. Plum Pudding, to me, is a totally unique tobacco in that it's definitely got a healthy portion of latakia but it's balanced so well by the unflavored black Cavendish and Virginia. I liken it to eating a piece of 60%+ cacao dark chocolate. Stout and thick in flavor, yet smooth, and not really all that sweet. The Orientals are very much in the background as is the Perique, but they're there. I have many Balkans that taste roughly the same, but nothing else tastes like Plum Pudding.

I don't like the Frogs at all. Just had a bit of PP from the box pass - it was ok, but I would need to smoke more to decide if it has a place in my rotation. At this point, this is just a "meh" for me.

This post brings to mind Steve Wright's joke about getting a humidifier and a dehumidifer.
"I put them in the same room and let them fight it out.'

I have to say, I'm with Morton on this one. I really like FMOTB, but SPC Plum Pudding is so much more complex and it induces zen-like states of mind for me, that I got to give my vote. This isn't to say Froggy is bad, just not as good.

Well, the Sunday night update is 7 to 5 in favor of Plum Pudding. An honorable contest among two wonderful tobaccos. Though a poor tunnout. I blame the promoter.
Perhaps tomorrow will bring a more pitched battle among two more commonly smoked blends.
