My bread got mold on it.., the loaf was sitting in the back the refrigerator in a bag… so did my cheese.

I’m so pissed I need to start flaming Taystee bread Co. and Tillamook on the Bread and Cheese Magazine Forums… NOT.

These are organic products, and if you are going to store them over time you have accept the possibility of some spoilage.

I buy bulk onions, potatoes, etc. at Sam’s. While I take the precautions to keep them from going bad, sometimes I end up tossing out produce that has gone bad after weeks or months. I’m still ahead of the game buying bulk instead of onesie twosies at a higher priced local grocer.

If there were bread and cheese forums, probably yes, just to check if is an insoloted event or something more common. Also, if my bread is moldy right after leaving the store, will return it, and probably I will get new bread or a refund.
yeah, tobacco is a natural product, it may spoil, but here is the thing, is not uncommon to storage tobacco for really long periods, years or even decades. This particular blend have quite old components, and suddenly after years of storage, once is blended, shows more problems than the average, to me, that's the point. There is not need to make a scandal, but also is really annoying when they try to swipe it under the carpet and act like there is nothing.
I bought the original release, and the last year, and probably a new one, cause C&D makes great things, and Steamworks in particular is really good, so far I just look for fuzzy business and take out the affected flakes, but l think there is problems that need to be acknowledge.

From what I remember seeing in some videos, most of those components stored before blending for years and years, are stored dry... very very dry, then rehydrated for blending, if I am remembering that correctly.

There's a huge difference in them being stored for years prior to blending vs after blending, namely the rehydration process.

swipe it under the carpet and act like there is nothing…

I don’t see anybody swiping it under the carpet. As a matter of fact, SP will readily exchange any tobacco tins that have issues.

I’ve mentioned in other threads that C&D recently expanded operations in another building with more space. Hardly sounds like there are huge issues that are cutting into their sales.

In the past there wasn’t much grumbling about mold in tobacco on these forums. But it seems that now it’s become fashionable for people who want to sound like they’re in the know.

I’ve been buying C&D tobaccos for years and have yet to get any with mold in them, even those that have sat for several years.

C&D has been the most represented company in my cellar for years.
Luckily I have never had any mold.
But I have heard several people say they got mold one time, so they will never buy from C&D again, because they are a garbage company.
Another disservice by Tobacco Reviews in my opinion.
Ive seen several reviewers say they have avoided C&D due to their huge reputation for moldy tobacco.
As a company that tins their tobaccos with a bit of room in the tin, versus the blenders who tightly vacuum pack their blends, I think they are doing just fine.
I cannot even guess how many hundreds of tins I've opened ftom them that have been perfect.
Even if I do get a moldy one, I'll just let them know, and get on with my life.

Sig, you seem like a rational, level-headed, reasonable sort of fellow. Not prone to flying off the handle or jumping to conclusions. Since you aren’t blowing things out of proportion or overreacting, you must be out of place on these forums. 😆
