I made a thread here about “moldy” 2022 Cringle Flake recently. Someone here suggested I contact Sutliff directly so I did. I took pics and sent em directly to the production manager’s inbox. He called back a couple hours later and told me the acidity in the tobacco reacted with the coating on the black paper puck. That reaction caused the white shit to appear on the tobacco that came into direct contact with the paper. He told me it was absolutely safe to smoke. I still haven’t smoked it but I haven’t tossed it in the bin either. I’m gonna wait to see what develops in the jar.

The difference between mold and plume is not only what it looks like but what it smells. If mold invaded your tobacco, you will immediately smell it. Unless your olfactory sense is utterly destroyed, it's impossible to miss the smell mold gives.

Not always the case. I had a bunch of tins of that Carolina Red Flake where the whole batch had to be recalled because of mold. 7 of my 10 tins looked like cotton candy and no noticeable moldy smell.

Sorry for uploading my last message in Spanish, I have the automatic translator and it changes my language before posting, I am attaching it in English because it won't let me edit:

I'm going to upload photos, after several weeks, outside the cellar and in a glass jar, what do you think?
