Bob doesn't work here anymore. He left at the end of August. I didn't want to make a big thing about it, so I didn't say anything except to Lawrence and Bubba in private.
It was a mutual decision and we remain friends. I still talk to him on occasion. He is actually a really cool guy and I love that he is a total tobacco freak. He uses it in all forms - RYO cigarettes, cigars, pipes, snuff, chew. I think he even cooks with it.
His contributions to the site remain a crucial aspect to it's success and they will always be remembered and appreciated. He even worked with me in the past on my old cigar site, which no longer exists after being bought out.
He no longer had the time to devote to the site. This was a part time job for him. His regular full time job, and his personal life was requiring more and more of his attention, leaving no more time for PM.com.
He is no longer a moderator, but his account remains open here in case he has the time to come back and participate in the discussions in the future.
It's an interesting short story on how Bob came to work for me on my old cigar site and then here.
We used to do blind cigar ratings, where the bands are removed and a panel of guys smokes the same cigar, not knowing what it is and then rates them. One of our advertisers helped by supplying the cigars - they removed the bands and shipped them out, which was a great help. We were doing this for a while, when one day there was a change in staff at the online retailer and they sent out the cigars without removing the bands.
This went on for a few months and nobody on the tasting panels informed me. Then it was Bob's turn and he is the only one that let me know about the problem. And he told me when I met him in person for the first time in Harrisburg PA at one of our own site sponsored events.
That goes back to the trust issue I talked about in my initial response to this thread.
