Thanks Aldecaker, I don't find it unpleasant at all, it's just that I don't wish to taste it forever.
"Here is a fun experiment. Smoke a caramel aromatic in a fresh cob, like McClelland Dark Caramel."
No thanks Bry, not an aromatic fan
Regards,
Jay.

it will darken, give it some time, my corn cob legend is dark, because i smoked lot's of good tobacco in it.

One other query if I may, will I forever taste the nutty sweetness that I am getting from the pipe or will that disappear once some cake is formed?
The nuttiness will fade a bit, but like a meerschaum pipe, don't allow much cake build up as it can crack the bowl.

you can always paint the corncob to any design you want, i was thinking about painting my corn cob, to make it look like a briar pipe.

Cheers Duane, I'm not a cake fan actually and use my British Buttner often, besides, the bowl of my cob is narrow enough as it is...any narrower and I'll not be able to fill it.

Jay.

I've just looked at the website of my supplier and am tempted to next go for the Mark Twain bent (my first is a straight) but am having difficulty determining from the image if it's the very same pipe just with a bent stem or if the 'shank' is actually angled from the bowl.
Anyone got one and can advise?
Regards,
Jay.

All four of mine are the bent model. Although they vary somewhat on the degree of the angle, the shank is definitely angled.

Use that cob while working on your car a few times, it will darken right up.
I find that the color change in my cobs have more to do with what I'm doing on the outside than what I'm smoking on the inside. :)

I pay a garage to do any work on my car...t'was a different matter when I rode motorcycles though :puffy:
I would say 99% of my smoking is done indoors so I might just have to be patient with the colouring thing
Aldecaker I shall just go ahead and buy a bent version and cross my fingers it is a canted shank.
Regards,
Jay.

Most of my cob pipes have straight stems, but I stick bent bits in them.
