Hey everyone
I've been experimenting a little and have stumbled upon a good mixture:
2 thirds Ashton Artisan's Blend to 1 third Samuel Gawith fire Dance flake. some times 1:1
I didn't like the Samuel Gawith fire dance alone, too wet and too hot. but with some Latakia .. a very interesting, relaxing and enjoyable bowl.
Having said that, the Artisan Blend alone is brilliant.
Cheers

Try Sillem's Black;
From the tin:

Extravagant is the right word to characterize this mixture.

We have revolutionized the traditional old English art of blending.

The main ingredient is the finest spicy smoky Latakia. By adding

highly aromatic Black Cavendish, this blend becomes smoother.

A small portion of Burley gives a slight toasted aroma, and a pinch of bright

Virginia brings a subtle sweet note. Mellow, but yet full-bodied

aromas of honey and fruit essences result in a unique flavor. This tobacco

will surely be a delight.

I like aromatics to spruce up one dimensional Latakia blends . But really Latika is just another form of a aromatic , albeit more expensive .

Not really. At least not the way "aromatics" are commonly thought of. There's no "latakia" syrup added to tobacco.

Well, there are crossover English blends, which are a different critter then taking an aro and mixing it with a latakia blend at home. If I was gonna explore that way, I would buy some blending latakia to mix with stuff. But aros are way down on my list of blends to smoke, anyway. I could live happily without ever smoking anther aromatic or even crossover English blend.

I would try this if it was a blend that I didn't like and no one on this forum wanted. No point in wasting tobacco. I'm sure the people who blend tobacco realize their customers have different tastes. If a customer buys a blend they don't end up liking and concocts something that prevents them from trashing it. I say go for it.

I only smoke two aroes but have wondered how my C&D Nutty Irishman would be with a dash of the Lat. If you like it, smoke it!
