Hi, I own a late 80s(I think) system deluxe everything about it is great, but the condenser/tenon-extension is missing. I’d really like to get it back to its original state. Peterson said that the best they could do is make a new stem. And I haven’t found anywhere else that sells them.
Any help on where to find one would be great. Thanks!

Ah, i should have specified in the original post. Peterson has gone through multiple iterations of their condensers. The model sold on SmokingPipes is the newest aluminum screw on version. The pipe I have needs a condenser of a different gauge and no threads.

If your tenon isn’t t threaded, it did not have a condenser. Peterson has never made unthreaded chimneys. There has been 4 different thread diameter/pitches used over the years. I can turn you a condenser to fit any one of the threads that Peterson has used but if your tenon is not currently threaded it will have to be tapped to accommodate a chimney.

Okay, thank you. I think I misunderstood an article I’d read.
Peterson said they’d make me a new stem with a condenser for $40. It’s a bit of a shame that I can’t have the full deluxe rig and keep the original pipe together.
Thank you again for your help though!

post a picture of the stem,i agree with rusty, deluxe pipes always had a screw in chimney except for the period he mentioned with no chimney.
Therefore your pipe can be brought to original either with or without a chimney

That pipe never had a chimney, but it can be fitted with one easy enough.
OP, Are you the original owner? You would have noticed it didn't come with one. Also that doesn't have thread. Can we see the stem from the side view? It does say "Deluxe" on the stummel. I thought deluxe always had condenser.

As a cost cutting measure Peterson discontinued condensers in the 1980’s they were eventually reintroduced after short period of time. It’s a real Deluxe, it’s from that time period.

The Mark Twain pipe introduced in 1981 and then made again in 82 & 83 were all made without condensers.

Does the lack of condenser translate to some sort of rarity or value,? similar to the way a double stamped coin or something of the like is?
Because if so, I guess I should probably leave it as is.
