I've tried Syrian in a few blends. I got an almost red wine like quality from it. It's hard for me to put it into words.
While I enjoyed it, I didn't bother buying any more even though it was readily available through both MacBaren and McClelland at the time. I have an ounce of 3 Oaks left in a jar and I'll savor it a few more times before shutting the door on Syrian.
You've still got plenty of variety and hundreds of amazing blends to discover, so don't sweat missing out. For all we know, in ten years you could be the guy telling some newbie what Kentucky tasted like.
