At the behest of our moderator, I’m happy to introduce myself. I am a 65-year-old attorney from West Virginia. My wife of 37 years and I were blessed to raise our three children on 15 wooded acres with two bass ponds and a 20’ natural waterfall. I founded ORCA, the Old Reel Collectors Association, 35 years ago, and it now has just under 1,000 members across the globe. Here is a link to our website; Reel Talk - ORCA - Reel Talk - https://reeltalk.orcaonline.org/

The club has become one of the leading authorities on antique fishing tackle and the experts in that field frequently gather on our website. I authored a book on the forts and blockhouses in the Upper Ohio Valley during the Revolutionary War, a favorable review of which appears on Johns Hopkins University’s website.

I was raised in a large family in West Virginia. My father, a decorated, combat-wounded retired US Army officer did not smoke, but his brother (my godfather) was not to be found without his pipe and a leather pouch of Half and Half. I loved the aroma and watching him work that pipe, wooden match after wooden match. Since I don’t drink, I find a bowl of a good aromatic incredibly relaxing In the evening.

I’m happy to be here.I posted on the pipe smokers thread on Classic Fly Rod Forum, but appreciate the much greater focus and depth of knowledge about pipes on this site. Thanks for having me.
