Maybe I'm too lazy for this lifestyle; if it were me I'd pick a tin and start smoking. Just shove those storage containers back in the closet, they'll still be there tomorrow.

Tins in mylar bags, bags in plastic tote. That's how I do it.
Haha! Me too.

I get most of my tobacco sent to my mum's as that's where I keep my cellar (95% of it anyway) and as I only normally visit every 6 months or so the tobacco can build up.

I'm currently visiting for Christmas and as I hadn't been up since February there was quite a bit to do (about 80 tins/pouches). I spent a good part of Saturday writing out the labels, sealing in the mylar bags and finally rearranging the contents of the totes and rewriting the lists I keep in each tote to tell me what's in them.

It's a satisfying job though and not really a chore at all.

I have a bunch of stuff in plastic baby food jars that serves as my regular rotation. The rest I won't be getting to anytime soon (actually I cut open a couple bags for the secret Santa exchange) and I don't have to worry about anything sealed in mylar for years to come. The totes just make it easy to move everything if I have to and move it without fear of breaking a seal.

I received several tins with broken seals that I believe were broken during shipping. I've received other tins that for all the world appeared sealed but after a day or two I could smell the tobacco so I don't think they'd survive long term storage as-is. Mylar makes it possible and without worry.

I don’t do inventory like this frequently, I am too lazy. I only recently learned about Mylar so this is the first time I use it, and I wish I started using it years ago. Especially for my bulk blends. I have a ton of large jars filled that are heavy and bulky. It would have been way better to use mylar instead. Now I don’t want to open them and move the contents to mylar because it will interrupt the aging process but as I open large jars to add a portion to my rotation jars I will be moving then over to mylar. These vacuum type tins are definitely not air tight because there was a massive aroma from every storage bin I opened.. If I can smell the tobacco then air is getting out.
