Uber, here is a temporary help. 1/8 teaspoon non-iodized salt in 8 oz. warm water. Rinse with it several times a day. If you can hold it in your mouth for a few minutes, even better. This is a tip from several piercers for oral piercings. Non-iodized salt is usually sea salt or kosher salt. The salt water will draw out some of the infection . Will also help heal after the dentist visit.
Just my $.02 as a body modification forum mod. I have had a lot of people with oral piercings getting infected and this simple trick helps a lot. Also good for regular piercings. Just apply with a cotton ball.
