Starting to Get Obsessed
Sorry to read the original post. I have ha COVID twice, but it was very mild both times and I personally did not experience the taste/smell issues that most report. My wife did and was extremely disappointed in all food and drink for nearly a year. Now, almost 18 months later, she is just starting to be able to differentiate flavors.

The comment earlier about oral health is a very important one! Depending on what you are using for oral health, you may be overloading your tastebuds. I know that when I use strongly flavored toothpastes and mouthwashes, I struggle to be able differentiate any tastes or smells, which sucks because I am a foodie and comp BBQ guy. So I try to find very mild flavored toothpastes and mouthwashes.

I don't know if any of that will ultimately help you, but there it is. Good luck, I hope you can find other ways to enjoy life in the meantime!

I go all winter without smoking pipes or cigars every year. Smoking in -20 to -40 celcius doesn't appeal to me. Pretty much everyone I know that lost their sense of taste/smell from covid got it back eventually. Give it a rest and it'll come back. Then decide if you want to give it up

I have read somewhere that states that about 65% of people with COVID-19-induced parosmia or hyposmia regain these senses by about 18 months, while 80–90% regain these senses by two years.

You may just need some more time before your sense of taste gets back to normal. Don’t give up just yet, unless quitting smoking tobacco is something you desire.
This was my experience exactly. 2 years1

That's a darn shame. I cannot speak to the Covid effects but every year during the Spring and Fall when the allergens hit my palate become less sensitive to a notable degree. And yes, neither the pipe nor cigars are as flavorful. Something to deal with. But like others suggested just give your palate some time to re-find its magic. Best of luck my friend.
