I just had a sample of shortcut to mushrooms first in my Peterson Rock of Cashel 221 I like the earthy flavor but I have never been one for english blends. It smoked rather hot and I decided for my seconf bowl to use my pineer calabash. God that's a good smoke. Deffinetly better as a cool smoke. I don't have any of the other midddle earth series to compare it to but I think this would be a good end of the day smke for me.

I have an ounce of Mushrooms and an ounce of Treebeard on the way that shipped Friday. I rarely read fiction, but JRR Tolkein is the reason I started smoking pipes. I must have read The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings fifteen times. I have a small short straight Butz Choquin I bought specifically because of the Ruins of Isengard chapter. I must have also read The Sillmarillion ten times.
"Blue was her raiment as the unclouded heaven, but her eyes were grey as the starlit evening; her mantle was sewn with golden flowers, but her hair was dark as the shadows of twilight. As the light upon the leaves of trees, as the voice of clear waters, as the stars above the mists of the world, such was her glory and her loveliness; and in her face was a shining light."
Yeah, baby.
PS I think Bilbo owned one of those TRGs; it looks exactly like something he would smoke.

Not Galadriel, but Luthien, Galadriel's grandmother. It's from the Silmarillion, not Lord of the Rings. The Silmarillion is ancient history starting from the creation of Middle Earth by the gods. It explains why Dwarves love stone and is an awesome read.
Just got Mushrooms and Treebeard. Ordered them Friday, and they arrived Tuesday (and Monday there was no post!) so good job justforhim.com.
Mushrooms definitely tastes creamy and is excellent. Am I the only one that thinks it actually tastes like mushrooms? I actually liked Treebeard a bit better, not because it was higher quality, but I think I preferred the flavor a little bit. I don't know how to describe them like you guys: raisins and currants, with earthy undertones and a hint of vanilla, with etc.
Both are worth the price. I got an ounce of each and the ounce seemed quite a bit smaller than the ounces I watched my B&M weigh, but before shipping, they cost $1.75 less ($3.25 as opposed to $5). With shipping, a bit more. Shipping to TX was $6.60, the same for two ounces as for five, so you might as well get more than the two ounces I got.
I smoked the Mushrooms through a Group 1 Butz Choquin short straight billiard, and the Treebeard through my SMS Meerschaum straight Dublin. Will try blending them with my cheapo Cherokee Mellow and see what happens.
"Hail Gurthang! No lord or loyalty dost thou know, save the hand that wieldeth thee. From no blood wilt thou shrink. Wilt thou therefore take Túrin Turambar, wilt thou slay me swiftly?' And from the blade rang a cold voice in answer: 'Yes, I will drink thy blood gladly, that so I may forget the blood of Beleg my master, and the blood of Brandir slain unjustly. I will slay thee swiftly. And Túrin set the hilts upon the ground, and cast himself upon the point of Gurthang, and the black blade took his life."

Holy wow I didn't read all of seanz's post!
My guess is he was either an extra in the town of Bree, or during Bilbo's birthday party.
Did you know that Peter Jackson has a cameo in the scene where the hobbits arrive in Bree? I think he put himself in someplace else too, the battle of Helm's Deep I'm pretty sure

I just tried the Whiskey Biscuit Gravy in St. Louis and it was tremendous. A little more depth and variety than Shortcut to Mushrooms--it uses Shortcut as a base.

Currently smoking treebeard and seems the most bitter from longbottom leaf, and old toby. However, opposed to treebeard, longbottom leaf and old toby were more pleasant and mild. Curious to try shortcut to mushrooms and isengard. What does everyone who has tried those blends think? :puffy:
