For the record, the reason I had to commission these is because our own Al kept buying all the Comoy 499s I saw on ebay. I figured if I was ever going to have one, I had to get my own made. So this is really all Al's fault. Damn him.

I love everything about the beautiful set. I am at a loss for words. If i could only have one it would be the second one. Congrats on another nice set!

Ha! I only have one 499!
Andy C, aka DocWatson sold a 499 Sandblast minutes before I visited his table in Richmond. !#@$#@$!, bad timing.

One of the things I enjoy most about a commission is when the carver sends you teaser shots along the way of the pipes in progress. To complete this thread, I thought I would share a couple shots I got from Michael along the way. In the background of one you can see the pic Al supplied of the Comoy 499.

That's some sweet icing on the cake!
Great to see them in their naked state, pretty amazing how that incredible birdseye pops so vibrant even in a matte unpolished form!
Love the drawing too.
Thanks for sharing.
Good stuff.

Can't understand how I missed this.
Peck, those are truly, staggeringly beautiful pipes. I could sit and admire those for hours on end - visions to lose oneself in.
You are most certainly a patron of the arts. Bravo!

Those are two gorgeous pipes, the first and second, but, sorry to say I don't care for the finish on the third.

That set is so nice it's scary. Not sure I'd be able to put flame to them right away. I think I'd want to let them exist in their pristine, newly created state for at least a little while.

The cumberland in particular is stunning, and obviously of a very high extra quality.
I love how it "matches" the blast!
Totally intense.

Congratulations Peck and huge applause to the craftsman who created those beautiful pipes. I'm numb with envy and hope that you enjoy every second of the years of pleasure they will give you.

Thanks guys.
I sent a link to this thread to Michael as I thought he would get a kick out of it.
He was blown away by how much people liked the set and responded that he should read a thread like this every monday morning before he starts the week's work.

I am sure you can't wait to get them Dean. As I always ask, do you know what you will smoke in these? Are you leaning towards English blends???
Whatever you choose I am sure they will be sublime smokers. Congrats sir

@ peck. I said the third is my favorite of the three. I wouldn't post a comment to tell someone I didn't like their pipe.

Lol
