I should've spelled out the order. I wanted a Michael Parks Pipe inspired by what was my favorite pipe at the time, the Dunhill Diplomat. I was very specific in telling him not to just copy it. If I wanted a Dunhill Diplomat, I already had one. I truly wanted a Michael Parks pipe. Nice catch!

Here is the exact email...

"alright, i like the idea of leaving as much as we can up to you. The basic request is a Michael Parks inspired, size 6, based upon the Dunhill Diplomat. "Ruggedly Elegant" is a great description. "
We went back and forth a few times on details, but he more than delivered on the order :)

Got it! Thanks for the clarification!
Enjoy her when you get her! Beautiful pipe and the finish on the thing is amazing!
I may have missed it but what is the shank extension? Mammoth ivory like on the tamp?

Yup Mammoth ivory. Love the look!
My next Parks pipe is a lg group 4 Straight Squat Bulldog in a partial blast with a thick collar made from meteorite material. Should be wicked! Can't wait!! This one was so good I can't imagine this one!

Here's his thoughts...

"Hi Nate,

Okay I think that we should stick with this idea of a Space Dog, in fact I love it!

Totally cool and I think that I can pull it off so that the key elements are present while the design maintains its integrity.

Please see attached some quick notes that I made re the shape.

Oh and btw this is The shape that I would most prefer to work with.

I have made many different Bulldogs and Saucers but I think that this Dunhill is the way to go.

It has a real 'spaceship' quality.

I am picturing it with a sandblasted top and smooth lower half.

The grooves on the bowl can possibly be inlaid with silver or gold....this is something that I think I can make work , and would be interested to attempt.

Further the band on the shank will have to include meteorite...but perhaps some silver/gold dots or something on the band...has a 'space ship' element no?!!

A tamper could possibly be made of meteorite too to match.

As for stem I list on my notes a spiked black and cream ebonite, the ivory celluloid, translucent grey acrylic (though it gets dirty with smoking) or black ebonite....although I may be able to come up with something else too.

Also attached is a pic of a SBang that is quite close...I have always loved this shape though haven't made one.

However I repeat that the Dunhill is my favourite!"

Stopped in again to drool over this pipe.
I am really sorry I never made it out to Michael's shop before he sent it off to you. I would have loved to scratch my nut sack with that beautiful pipe before he mailed it off to you.

Peck, if you'll refer to page 6 subsection D of the forum rules "commissioned pipes should never make contact with another members scrotum." It's a good thing you didn't make it over, else ye be the target of a formal inquiry and reprimand. Didn't your mother ever teach you how about proper ball sweat etiquette?
