We're about 90 minutes from DC, where I-81 & I-70 cross in Maryland. I'm out on patio with my pipe and coffee. I can hear the rumble and roar as thousands of bikers make their way into DC for the Vietnam Memorial ride. A raised pipe for all those that served & sacrificed.
A memorial Day salute to my father, who's still kicking at 97 years. He survived 33 years in the US Army, WWII, Korea and Vietnam. Here in 1969 while in Vietnam,he was 50 years old and in the 26 Infantry Division (Blue Spaders). We took him for breakfast at his favorite spot, Bob Evans.

I just wished someone "happy Memorial Day." That doesn't sound right. Maybe blessed Memorial Day? Have a beautiful Memorial Day? I'd like to sound affirmative but not cheery. Respect and grief can be beautiful, in context -- maybe that works. It is sunny, warm and breezy here in central N.C. Got the flag out, if not at sunrise. Great photo of your dad, The Greatest Generation.
