Does anyone know of a quality online meershaum pipe store? I'm thinking of purchasing a nice claw pipe and want to order from a trustworthy seller or maker. Thanks!

Based on my own experience as well as testimony of others, I'd highly recommend Baki meers for both quality and customer service:

SPC has IMP meers which I understand are very good, but I don't have one personally (yet):

I also understand Altinok is very good, but again, I don't have personal experience with them:

CAO makes good pipes and if I were to buy online I would probably buy from CAO or Altinok. I have heard that both have quality pipes and service.

Go with Altinok or IMP or Baki. They use the briar type tenon that draws really well. I have two CAO's that I've had to re-engineer to make them smoke well.

Thanks guys. I have two more traditional meers already. An apple billiard and a calabash with meer bowl. I really enjoy the calabash. I've had a bit of PAD recently; which has lead me to ordering a Peterson system 303 and this claw meer. These pipes can definitely out live me if cared for.

Be sure to buy from sources you know like Smokingpipes.com ,4noggins if you are purchasing on the net.
For instance ;I saw some good "imp" meerschaum pipes at SPC :
http://www.smokingpipes.com/pipes/new/imp/index.cfm
And surprisingly I have seen another meerschaum pipe brand on the SPC today.Their models on SPC are a hair cheaper than the imp meerschaum pipes.I had heard about them in some other forums too.I think they are more popular in European countries.Quite nice pipes on SPC :

I already have imp, baki and altinok.
Baki pipes are perfectly engineered but their pipes usually have some cracks in the bowl
Altinok uses better meerschaum but engineering is not good in his pipes. Usually stems are weakly attached

and the draft holes were often very low or cockeyed to one side.
IMP seems to be the best buy among those.Good engineering and good meerschaum quality.
There is also a great company called "altinay" .Those guys are quite famous in europe. In my business trips I purchase pipes from many tobacco shops in germany ,france etc. You can see altinay pipes in those shops.
My tobacconist friends tell me that they sell a lot but never tried one of those.

Hello, Mr. Altinok! I am happy to see that you take an active role at this site. I am looking forward to my new meershaum. piperasmus made the first negative comment that I've heard about your pipes; so many people have appreciated the fine work. I hope to enjoy my pipe as well. Thanks.

I did not say anything negative regarding any person.

Just explained my opinions after seeing the very same photos on Altinays web site.

There is nothing to get angry. At least in my opinion.
Happy Puffs to All

Wish you bowls full of peace..

I don't believe it was a negative comment. Just a question regarding where a pipe comes from. No harm no fowl! Lets keep the piece here. This is a fun and respectable community. Happy puffing everyone! :puffy:

@piperasmus: I have never, ever heard of or seen a Baki Pipe with an undesirable crack in the bowl.
You might want to keep in mind that IMP, Altinay, AND, Altinok, Storient and several others mentioned here are the importers, not the maker. Although lankfordjl originally asked about a quality online store, I'd suggest looking at the maker/carver of the pipe, then find an importer that has what I'm looking for.... An importer calling their wares "Signature Pipes" means nothing to me. (Just my opinion).

Sir, all the names you mentioned (no idea who is Storient) are NOT importers at all. We are all located here in Turkey and making our pipes with our own carvers. Signature Pipes is my own designed series of pipes that was anounced a few years ago. For your information.
