No, I have a meer tamper already which I love. That wouldn't be a bad idea though, as I like my 8deco tamper, which leaves a mound as it tamps instead of flat. I just don't use my meer cigarette holder for pipe tobacco or cigarettes. ?

Yes, the water and finger test work fine particularly if you add saliva to the water.

if you go on eBay you can see some that are almost translucent, fully saturated

Well, it’s cracked along the shank after the first half bowl so it might be meerschaum but it’s not good quality meerschaum ?‍
