Oh yeah, it was horrible, i cant even describe the smell, it was like death and feces.....HORRIBLE, and it stunk my whole apartment up (not hard to do, its small) but still, screw that, i have plenty of pipe, its not worth my time or effort...and thats saying something, i am hard pressed to throw anything away, i enjoy fixing things

I gotta say, that's a first! I haven't ever had an unsmoked meer-lined pipe smell poorly. What a bummer! Stupid glue!

Never heard of anything like that about a meer lined pipe. I kinda doubt that 20-30 year old glue would have much of a smell,it's been at least that long since the Grabow meer lined pipes were made. Maybe that pipe had set in a drawer or somewhere where the meer had absorbed an odor from something. Meer lining are not hard to re-install if they come out.
