2008 version still, the ribbon is on 2011 crop which makes me wonder if when the 2008 flake is all gone if there isn't a 2011 flake version next.

I just bought some tins of Red Flake and they are dated 2012.

Mine are dated 2012 but are the 2008 NC crop. My ribbon is dated 2017 but is the 2011 crop.

No, it isn't. McCrainie's is a single crop product. The 40th is not. Although processed and tinned by McClelland, McCrainie's sourced their single crop from a different farm than McClelland. They're all great blends and if you like red Virginia, you can't go wrong with any of these.

Can someone please give a quick comparison between Red Flake and any of the McClelland’s bulk flakes?

Red Flake is from a single hand picked crop. Bulk Flake could be from a number of different crops which are not specified.
