McClelland are the masters of true American Virginias...
The only bad McClelland I have had, to my tastes, was Tastemaster.
(The same could probably be said for their other aromatics)
I just could not cotton to that style of blend. It pushed me towards more natural tobaccos.
McClelland Virginias, on the other hand, are like nectar from the gods to me in comparison...

See? Just goes to show how this hobby is all about different stroke for different folks. I really enjoy Tastemaster as it seems to be one of the few aromatics in which the tin note translated to the smoke. Very yummy.

I'd have to put 221b Black Shag as my favorite though. The stoved VA's really make this a winning blend for me, and I buy a tin with every order. I will say though that of the Grand Orientals line that I've smoked, they are really moving up the favorites list. Of the two I've tried, they were outstanding smokes and I really want to try the rest of the line.

Tastemaster was the straw that broke the camel's back and turned me completely from aros. It was a long time coming.
I will agree that the chocolate note is strong and true to taste, but its goopiness and cloying flavour were not enjoyable to me.
(Clearly I do not buy anymore American-style aromatics so take it with a grain of salt)

I've barely touched the vast majority of McClelland's blends, but what I have tried I've enjoyed thoroughly. I'm a big fan of the Frog Morton (what a surprise) blends even though some of them are a bit mild (like Across The Pond). Right now, Across The Pond is an enjoyable smoke when I'm shoveling snow or otherwise being active. It serves as a good background smoke. Cellar is the only Frog Morton I've yet to try, so I'm ordering a tin after I post this. My favorite would have to be Nocturne.
They certainly have some of the best looking tins around. :puffpipe:
