Hello all, curious on any feedback. How rare is McClelland Ringlow Syrian Reserve Limited Edition 50g Tin from 1995 and what does it go for? Any good?

A lot of people prefer the milder and more aromatic Syrian latakia to the modern Cyprian variant. Not familiar with Ringlow but McClelland's Syrian blends in general leaned 'sour' in taste so value wise really comes down to the palette vs desire of the buyer.

I'd be curious to see what condition the latakia from 1995 would be in flavor wise, a lot of people believe it goes 'flat' after 8ish years cellared.

This was tinned by McClelland for Barry Levin. At the time it came out it was, in my opinion, one of the finest tobaccos on the market and, I believe, one of the few if not the only one with Syrian Latakia at that time. Barry worked with McClelland in the development of several blends (in particular the Personal Reserve line) and I think that this was their highest achievement. My experience has been that it ages well. I've seen it (rarely) for sale on the Pipestud website. If memory serves it was priced somewhere between $75 - $85 for a 50g tin (it was only produced in 50g tins).

At almost 30 years old, it could be dead to dust. That's not to say no one would want it. Weigh it and give it a shake, that may help you see how dehydrated it is. The ketchup may have kept it nice and fresh.

$100 may be a fair market price. Maybe even more to the China crowds.

It was a nice blend, but never got the recognition that brings the big bucks.
It’s a shame.

I think it might go for about 100 110 range. I get the impression that the name brand alone will drive sales. But add a few grains of sand to that. That said i always got more burnt tire nuance off syrian. But as the vintage market goes more main stream the simple rarity starts meaning more.

I have 3 or 4 tins left, it is pretty darn good. And if stored correctly, turning to dust isn't much of a worry with the 50g cans.

I would expect to pay around $85 in today's market, a collector that is filling a gap may go up to $125, but that's a hard sell.
