I really despise Latakia (migraine trigger) and I like Blue Mountain. I haven't smoked my own bowl of it yet, but I snuggle up to Bootleg and take sips off of his pipe.

Blue Mountain is good and will find a following. To me, the better choice is the judge's choice for the Balkan Sobranie Throwdown, Russ's Black House. It has more dimension to it and comes close to 759 in it's character..., not as close as Smoker's Haven Exotique, but the Black House is available. Black House and Magnum Opus are the showcase blends for the new Marquee series of Home and Hearth blends and are a major departure from what Russ has done in the past, and a hallmark for his emergence as a premier blender. Blue Mountain is good, but not that different from a number of other McClelland blends. Three Oaks Syrian is the better choice, at least for me.

Gents,
I am smoking my first bowl of Blue Mountain right now, I received it in the mail just today from LJ Peretti (along with a sampler of their house Omega blend). I also smoked 3 Oaks Syrian for the first time just last night. The Blue Mountain is very good indeed, but I used to smoke 759 and to me Blue Mountain is not in the same ballpark. As I said, it's very good in it's own right, but it's a rather mellow and light bodied blend. The 3 Oaks Syrian is a richer and more full bodied blend IMHO. I want to try Black House next, but the 3 Oaks Syrian will be staying in my rotation while the Blue Mountain will not.
Cheers and good smoking,
Craig
