Losing a favorite pipe tobacco is a pain, for sure, I think that a lot of us went through this. MCClelland makes among the best American Virginias and Va/Pers and will be missed. The STG Dunhills are worse than the ones made under Orlik, for me the best ones were Murray made. Some old timers will tell me that Murray's were crap when compared to the original and I would tend to believe them, knowing no better. Very few good things last forever, it's the way of the world.
This is to say that eventually, a pipe smoker will have to grow his own pipe tobacco and become independent of the market whims.

Good time to get them if you have not, and if you've stocked-up get 6 more to get free shipping to boot! :)

I wouldn't be too surprised if another load of 40th tins showed up at Smoking Pipes in the coming week or so.

Without McCelland and Dunhill the community would not be what it is today!
 Oh wait, he's being serious.
Forget C&D and GLP they are small fish that put out substandard blends.
Furthest thing from. About a fourth of my cellar is C&D.

2000 tins in two weeks is quite a bit of leaf. Based on what I saw they sold around 1000 in two days, once the panic really kicked in.

I would like to see them to send the remaining tins of 40th to B&Ms. I always search for B&Ms if I have spare time when traveling and it's nice to find a couple good tins.

Glad you love C&D! However, hardly anyone would care if they went out of business! Unlike Dunhill and McClelland.

I can take or leave Dunhill. Too many taste alikes. With McClelland, I have cellared all I will ever need. Didn't hear a whole lot of clambering about them for decades prior to their closing their doors. Same for Bringham and others lost. The caring only came from news of their loss.

Interesting that SP still has Grand Orientals left. In my book, they would be the most missed if McClelland did in fact close up shop. Their VAs are good, especially the reds, but they have a lot of good stuff that most people overlook. It would be pretty hilarious if all us hoarders bought up tens of thousands of dollars worth of tobacco in a week for no reason.
