I tend to get little enjoyment from many English blends. However Yorktown is a 4/5 for me. I really like aeros Nutty Irishman and Hobbit weed are also 4/5 and Founding fathers just blew me out of the water <3.
And then there are a bunch that just don’t grab me like Autumn Evenings.
It seems that English blends are something one grows in to but there are a bunch that are just meh to me... ?‍♀️

But I find it hard to understand how any of the basic types of pipe tobacco can be disliked.
How can you not find aros delicious? Seriously vanilla or fruit taste great and when combined with tobacco wonderful.
Va blends how can you not enjoy the subtle sweet invigorating smoke?
How can you not enjoy the comforts of a good burly?
How can you not marvel at the multifaceted and exotic tastes of a great english blend?
Sure I get how you can have favorites and how you could consistently desire one of these over the others. But to actually not like them at all seems baffling and perplexing to me.
Well I for one understand it. Often its the proportion or ratio of tobaccos in a mixture or blend. For example, I pulled out a tin of Stilman's I had in my humidor for 15 years. After a bowl I remembered why I put it away; It was a Latakia/Burley "bomb" with no complexity. It left my tongue and palette scorched such I haven't smoked my pipe for 2 days, and it may be 3 or 4. I know some people like such blends, but a mild Am/En blend is preferable for me some of the time. Mostly I enjoy mild Va/Burley flakes. Taste is as individual as the human fingerprint, and tobacco, like food or wine, beer, or whisky is not equally liked by all. I can't stand the taste of egg yoke. When forced to eat it as a kid I threw-up all over the table. My parents never forced me again!

The most divine U.S made blend if have tried by this day was GL Pease Stonehaven
If you can get it!
He might have meant GL Pease Stonehenge, which is good and available. I have not tried Stonehaven yet, but am waiting on a day I walk into a place and find it. The two Esoterica blends I have not come across are Stonehaven or Penzance.
Info I found on Stonehenge:
"From Gregory Pease:
In 2001, I had the honor and pleasure of collaborating with G.H. & Co.'s John Gawith on a very special tobacco, and after nearly a year of development, Stonehenge Flake, a modern VA/Perique blend steeped in English tradition, was born."

I hate babies. Everyone is making over them while they are putting that same stinking stuff in their drawers, which we feel compelled to clean up. Who says? All the women are leaning over to whisper sweet nothings in their ears while I I'm thinking of sitting on it. Surprising my daughter survived infancy.
