I’ve read through many threads like this and because there’s so much debate about it I can’t help but think there’s a little something to it. Of course pretty much everything like this is subjective, and perhaps there’s a degree of psychological tomfoolery going on internally after considering the issue.
All this to say I’ve wondered if a given pipe’s draft has something to do with it? Chamber shape combined with draft? ?
I got a BC straight-billiard jumbo a while back. Very tight draft. I hated that pipe until I tried PS LBF out of it. The tight draft forces me to slow down further, and I know going in that it’s not tongue friendly unless I’m slow rolling it. Don’t get me wrong though it’s my least-smoked briar...
All this said, my only personal rule is burley-forward blends in cobs.
