I've had a hankering to get a nice match carrying case with striker. This is cheap and I imagine it would feel cheap. But, man, it seems handy. Any thoughts on this? I am also looking for a nice desk match holder with striker and pipe rest. Been looking everywhere but haven't seen anything appealing yet. I might try to make one. My old Edgeworth tins or something similar might be really cool. Wondering if there are any dedicated desk match folks? Thanks!Screenshot 2025-03-10 at 2.23.25 PM.png

I use a few different match box covers. One from silver a copper and an enamel. My problem with matches is that the strike anywhere type are no longer easily found and they are the easiest to have around.
The desk type holders are all over Ebay and Amazon in various mediums.

If you get ahold of some white phosphorus you could make the Lucifer matches and get a nice case of Phossy Jaw.

I can't speak to the quality of the one you show and I didn't look at the dimensions but I like the look of it.

It looks smooth and sleek like it will slip in and out of a pocket easily.

Strike Anywhere matches are available on Amazon, eBay and some Ace Hardware and Walmart locations.
They're really not anymore if you live in the U.S. or most western countries. There are the green tip "strike anywhere" matches but they suck... like most "green" products.

They're far more difficult to strike (both on the strike pad or anywhere else) than the old formula ones like red bird or Ohio blue tip because some 3 letter agency changed the regulations 5-10 years ago about phosphorus content allowed in matches (the stuff that allows them to be strike anywhere)

I was able to buy a couple cases of the old good ones (already a foreign brand) on ebay for a (relatively) stupid price 6 or 7 years ago as they were just finishing up becoming extinct but now you're basically SOL.

Yeah you can get regular, waterproof, super duper survival ones... but any of those ones that actually work are all strike on box only.

Is it waterproof? You know it's gonna get wet.
I prefer the old style waterproof match box

Lots of other choices HERE and HERE
PS tho, this is awesome btw! Holy crap, I never even knew these things existed let alone seem to have been at one point so ubiquitous... there's definitely a bounty of reasonably priced examples on ebay.. plus bonus, some have ww2 history! Lol
Thanks for the info! (Tho not due to my bank account 😂)

More great suggestions! Thank you! As of now I’m planning to make my own by attaching some of the glue match strike paper to an old edgeworth tin. I’ve seen how those old tins had a match strike surface on the bottom but I’m a bit skeptical as to its effectiveness.

Might have been a Boy Scout item back when life was marginally more sane.

You can buy big sheets of sticky label striker surface (I got some off Amazon). Which means you can use normal matches & convert any old container that catches your fancy. View attachment 378234View attachment 378235
Ah, thanks Toast! I have a metal tin from Amazon and use for travel carry with matches (TSA pays it no mind). But, my striker wore out.
Down here in the swamp, in my boxes of home matches, on the patio and front porch, my box of strike on box matches the striker gets soggy and stops working. I ordered these, just need to keep them from the humidity:
