Mastercraft Meerschaum Pipe Question

Who can tell me about Mastercraft Meerschaum pipes?
One of our new pipe club members showed us some old meerschaums which had belonged to his late father-in-law. It was unsmoked and in its hard case.
(Yes, I know. Post Photos. I've asked him to take some good photo of it and send it too me.)

I didn't know Mastercraft imported meerschaum pipes. Has anyone seen one before.

Can't say as I've seen any or even knew Mastercraft made meers.

The pipe smokes well enough, but barely passes a cleaner. I’ll be sending it out to have the draw opened. Otherwise, it is a nice specimen of the MasterCraft pipes. I won’t be getting another. That’s for sure.

It's the New Orleans Pipe Club. We held our first meeting in two years last night.
Even had three first-time members at the meeting.

I've never heard of this brand but eBay has 25 or so of them. Not meerschaum though.

Mastercraft block meerschaums were, I believe, made by Andreas Bauer in Austria. The lattice ones have Bauer's very distinctive long lattice, and many had amber stems. I'm not sure if these are just pre- or just post-WWII. Yours would be a meerschaum-lined briar, a very different animal.

I have been told that Mastercraft was Bing Crosby's preferred briar pipes.

I have a couple Mastercraft Meerschaum lined pipes. Nice pipes. I bought them unsmoked several years ago. Mastercraft sourced pipes from a quite a number of manufacturers back in the day. Some well known, others not so much.

Mastercraft meerschaum came from Strambach in the 70s possibly up to the early 80s. They were either massa(pressed/cultered), or block. Sold individually and as sets to Sears, Aldens, Spiegel, M. Ward, etc., for their Christmas catalogues. I'm going to say the one you posted is block. And real nice.
