I have been taking my screw-type tobacco tins and jarring them these last couple of days. I had noticed that I could smell tobacco whenever I opened my storage container so I decided to get it done. Not a lot of smell, but enough to worry me. I have packed at least 15 jars. On the whole, the tobacco was just fine; only one tin was a bit crispy, but far from being "mummy dust". I just finished jarring 2 tins from the Chicagoland Pipe Show 2011, MacBaren HH Highland Blend. They were not moist but still had some spring to them. Just right for smoking IMO. I probably have another couple of dozen screw-type tins to go. And I have made the decision to not jar the pop-type tins for now. They are all in fine condition and have no odor of tobacco about them whatsoever. That could change in the future but for now, I am content with that.
